1 Kings 18:20-39

When God delivered Israel from Pharaoh’s strong hands by making His people to walk on dry ground while crossing the red sea, He left no one in doubt. The apparentness of what had happened could not be colored. An adage says that you cannot say you saw a mammoth by a whisk; if you saw an elephant, you must say you saw an elephant. Why? Because it does not make sense for anyone to deny seeing something as huge as an elephant. You can’t belittle it. The animal is too apparent to be in the region of doubt. How can anyone say that a miracle had not occurred when the body of water as giant as a sea suddenly parts and provides a highway for 600,000 men, plus an unspecified number of women and children? Even the enemies confessed that the Lord was working against them in favor or Israel.
Our God cannot be mistaken. He is bigger than big. Beside Him, everything else is smaller than an ant. In the contest between Elijah and the prophets of Baal, the result did not need to be explained. In 1 Kings 18:36-39, the Bible says:
And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, "LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel, and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that You are the LORD God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again." Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, "The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God!"
In Habakkuk chapter 2 verse 20, the scripture says that the Lord is in His holy Temple, let all the earth keep silence before Him. If someone is higher in rank or status than you, your standard attitude is reverence. That’s what we do before kings, presidents, and other people who deserve respect. Yet, though we bow down before men, many don’t think that there is a spiritual being to be respected in even greater magnitude. That’s how some mere man like Nebuchadnezzar opened his mouth to ask the three Hebrew boys, ‘who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?’ When he saw the answer to his question, it was too apparent for him to miss. His next statement was ‘Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego.’
There are some things you cannot debate. In any argument, it comes to a point where the truth is so clear that any further opposition only reveals naked stupidity. In Romans 9:20, the scripture asks:
But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, "Why have you made me like this?"
It is futile to challenge your Maker, or to think of yourself as some important thing before Him. Whether you know God or you don’t, like Him or not, there’s too much around you to show that God exists. If you do not acknowledge Him while you are alive and still stand a chance at redemption, a day is coming when you will look like a complete fool (pardon my language), because on that day, it wouldn’t matter how much you feign ignorance, it would have been too late. Do you know God? Have you acknowledged Him? Have you ever said to Him, I am sorry for my sins? Today is another opportunity to change your ways. Will you?
PLEASE ACT NOW:
If you are yet to give your life to Christ, you do not have a covenant with God and His promises do not apply to you. To come under these promises, please surrender your life to Christ today, by praying this prayer:
Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
