2 Chronicles 20:17

The job of the defence ministry of any nation is to defend the sovereignty of the nation and defend its people from external aggression or attack. A very present example is what is happening currently in Ukraine. They are facing a one-in-a-lifetime aggression from Russia, and they are using all means at their disposal to defend their country, including giving up their lives, if necessary, to achieve that purpose.
When God brought Israel out of Egypt, He had no immediate intention of creating an army out of them. He wanted to be their Commander in Chief and Minister of Defence and the army was going to be the angels in heaven. When the host of Pharaoh pursued them on the way to the Red Sea and everyone was scared and Moses cried to God, He told Moses, “Why are you crying to me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.” Thereafter, God told Moses His strategy, for Moses to lift up his rod and stretch out his hand over the sea to divide it so Israel could cross on dry ground, and He would then harden the heart of Pharaoh so he will send his chariots to go after Israel and this is when He would teach Egypt an unforgettable lesson by closing the sea up over them.
No military could ever out-strategize God. When Israel was under siege from Syria and inflation had gone to high heavens to the extent people were killing and eating their own children, all God needed to do was to make the sounds of the feet of four lepers to sound like the noise of chariots and the noise of horses and the noise of a great host of warriors in the ears of the Syrians and this was more than enough to create such fear that they fled and left their food and their wealth (gold, silver, clothing and others) behind for Israel to gather without stress (2 Kings 7:3-16). How sweet could that be!
Are you in fear for your life, either physically or spiritually? If physical, please take steps at your disposal and within your power to protect yourself and your family. This will obviously include praying and asking God for protection as well as informing the authorities and moving to a safe place if possible. I pray with you that our Commander-in-Chief and Minister of Defence will trigger one of His strategies to protect you and keep you safe in Jesus’ name. Only do not fear (and this is very easy to say, but that’s the Word of God). Even if you are afraid, make sure to do what Jehoshaphat did when the hosts of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir gathered themselves to fight against him. The Bible says that he feared, but then he pulled himself together to seek the Lord and to proclaim a fast throughout all Judah. The result? God told Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:15b and 17:
Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”
Always remember that the Lord is with you. He promised to never leave you alone and you can hold Him to that promise. If your fear is spiritual, your only solution is also spiritual. This is the time you pray and hand over the battle to the Lord. There is no 911 or 999 team that can save you from a spiritual battle. The only defense you have is in Christ. No one should be deceived into thinking that there is some spiritual man or spiritual woman in some village or some corner somewhere who would go into some secret room and come out with some solution to your problem. The Bible says that the sorrows of those who run after other gods shall multiply (Psalm 16:4).
If earthly fathers are out to defend their children with all they’ve got, the last thing that our Heavenly Father would do is to leave you out to dry. In Isaiah 49:24-26 (NLT), the Bible says:
Who can snatch the plunder of war from the hands of a warrior? Who can demand that a tyrant let his captives go? But the Lord says, “The captives of warriors will be released, and the plunder of tyrants will be retrieved. For I will fight those who fight you, and I will save your children. I will feed your enemies with their own flesh. They will be drunk with rivers of their own blood. All the world will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel
Fear is oppressive and it causes sleeplessness and disease. Fear will make you lose weight in the wrong way and people will see an emaciated you and begin to ask questions. Fear will make you make mistakes that could lead to further problems. As God’s children one thing we should not allow to rule us is fear, because this is the exact opposite of faith. Our God is with us, and He will never quit. He is omnipresent and can be with all His children at the same time. He is not only our Commander-in-Chief, He is our Minister of Defence. If earthly defence ministries give up their lives to defend their countries, our God would do anything to defend His children (Isaiah 43:4). Surrender all to your Savior and have a fearless and blessed week!

PLEASE ACT NOW:
If you are yet to give your life to Christ, you do not have a covenant with God and His promises do not apply to you. To come under these promises, please surrender your life to Christ today, by praying this prayer:
Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
